- The switches and dimmers have 3mm bevelled transparent acrylic plates which are secured without the use of any fixing screws. The plates are flush to the wall, and they are supplied with either brass, nickel silver, stainless steel, or antique bronze dolly/toggle switches or dimmer knobs.
- The 0.5mm inner plates of primed aluminium are sited behind the invisible plates which can be decorated in the same way as the walls, so as to give the illusion that the wallpaper or paint finish runs seamlessly behind the switchplate.
- From the same range of invisible switches, sockets and dimmers are the invisible sockets and rocker switches with 2mm thick acrylic plates.
- If you have painted walls, we recommend the Painted Socket range, which are fully flush to the wall and come etch-primed ready for painting along with the room.
The invisible range of switches, sockets and dimmers from Forbes and Lomax is available in the following formats
- Forbes and Lomax dolly switch
- The Forbes and Lomax dolly(toggle) switches are available in all plate finishes.
- The switches are available in 2 way and intermediate as standard. 1 way, 2 way and off(three position) and double pole switches are available on request.
- Dolly switches can be mixed with Button Dimmer Controllers on the same plate.
- Forbes & Lomax Sockets
- A full range of Forbes and Lomax socket outlets and fused connections are available in all finishes. Socket types include 13amp, 5amp, 2amp, TV, telecom, data, audio, shaver and floor sockets. A choice of black and white inserts is available. The 13amp sockets and the switched fused connections can be supplied with metal switches if desired.
- For the painted walls, we recommend the Painted Socket range which are totally flush to the wall, and come etch-primed, ready for painting along with the room.
- Forbes and Lomax European sockets
- The European sockets are also available in all finishes. As with all our sockets, they fit flush to the wall and come with white or black inserts. All the European sockets must be installed into British Standard wall boxes which must be recessed into the wall by 6mm.
- For the painted walls, we recommend the Painted Socket range which are totally flush to the wall, and come etch-primed, ready for painting along with the room.
- Forbes & Lomax Rotary dimmer
- The Forbes and Lomax rotary dimmers push in to switch on and off and rotate to dim or brighten.
- The Intelligent Dimmers are the same in appearance to the standard rotary dimmer, but they include a few extra features. The Intelligent dimmers are a soft start; so, instead of switching the light up to the set intensity immediately, it will turn on the light with a slight graduation which is kinder to the bulb.
- The Intelligent Dimmers are also programmed to detect an overload, and are better at controlling difficult loads(such as when low-voltage and mains voltage lamps are mixed on the same circuit).
- The Intelligent Dimmers are suitable for wirewound(toroidal) transformers, as well as for the good quality electronic transformers.
- Forbes and Lomax Dimming systems
- The Dimming System is a four channel dimmer with four easily programmable scenes in addition to full manual dimming and on/off buttons. The system is easily installed and quick to program.
- The programming and operation is achieved from a master panel, with slave panels and remote controls also available if control is required from additional locations.
- The Dimming System is available in all finishes with a choice of black or white buttons.
- Forbes & Lomax Rocker switch
- The Forbes and Lomax rocker switch is available in all plate finishes. The rocker itself is available in black, white, stainless steel, nickel silver, brass and antique bronze.
- The switches are available in 2 way and intermediate as standard, 2 way and off(three position), 2 way retractive and 2 way and off retractive.
- Double pole switches are available on request. The rocker plates are 2mm thick.
Forbes and Lomax Invisible plate - dimensions/features

- the double plate: 86 mm x 146 mm
- the depth of plate: 3mm for the switch, 2mm for the socket
- All the Forbes and Lomax switches conform to BS EN 60669/1;
- The Forbes and Lomax 13A sockets conform to BS1363;
- The Forbes and Lomax 2A and 5A sockets conform to BS546;
- A full range of socket outlets are available, including power outlets, telecom and data, audio and visual, fused connections and floor sockets.
- All the Forbes and Lomax switches and sockets require British Standard 35mm deep flush wall boxes.
- Note: All the Forbes and Lomax products must be fitted by a qualified electrician.
