Forbes and Lomax was established in 1987 with a particular approach to electrical accessories - from an aesthetic point of view.

The invisible plate by Forbes and Lomax requires very little cleaning. The clear perspex plate protects the wall from everyday dirt and grime. If there's any cleaning required, it is recommended to use a clean cloth and buff until the marks are no longer visible.

For everyday cleaning of the Forbes and Lomax Unlacquered Brass Plates, please use a soft cloth but for a more thorough clean, use Brasso or Brasso wadding.
The plates should be removed from the wall to prevent damage to wallpaper or paint; alternatively, a protective layer of card can be inserted behind the edge of the plate.
Do not use water-based cleaners as they will leave marks and damage the plates.

The Stainless Steel plates from Forbes and Lomax can be cleaned using a small amount of stainless-steel cleaner.
These are normally spray cleaners and should be sprayed directly onto the cloth and buffed into the plate.
The manufacturer recommends that plates be removed from the wall before cleaning to prevent damage to the wall surface.
Alternatively, place a protective piece of card between the plate and the wall before cleaning.

The Nickel Silver plates by Forbes and Lomax are extremely low-maintenance. Any fingerprints or marks can be removed using a dry soft cloth or duster such as a micro cloth.

The Verdigris plates by Forbes & Lomax require little maintenance and are one of the most practical finishes.
As these plates have undergone two processes of both bronzing and patina, the plate is well protected and requires little maintenance other than dust.

The Forbes and Lomax Brushed Brass plates are lacquered, which enables the plate finish to be preserved.
A wipe with a micro cloth would remove any finger marks, but we would not recommend any strong metal cleaners, as this may compromise the lacquer on the plate.

Cleaning the Forbes and Lomax Painted Plates
All the Forbes and Lomax Painted plates are coated with a universal primer, which is suited to all paint finishes, however, it is recommended using eggshell, as it is durable and can be easily cleaned and provides a smooth finish.
Before painting, remove the plate from the wall and lie on a flat surface (a piece of clean A4 paper is ideal). It can be helpful to use a small roller.
Apply two coats for lighter colours and a third for darker colours. Wait until the paint is dry before applying each additional coat.
Applying a top coat of clear matt varnish can help protect against marks and blemishes.
