DEVIreg Touch Thermostat - Installation

  • The thermostat should not be placed on the inner side of a poorly insulated exterior wall, and should always be placed at least 50 cm from windows and doors, due to draft. Do not expose the thermostat to direct sunlight.
  • Place the accompanying floor sensor in a conduit at an appropriate location, where it is not exposed to sunlight or draft from door openings. It should be equally distant from the two heating cables by at least 2 cm. Route the conduit to the connection box and ensure the bending radius of the conduit is a minimum of 50 mm.
  • Once the thermostat is installed, confirm the language you wish to use. Then proceed to set the date and time. Simply hover over the hour then press the number you wish to adjust. You can use the left and right directional buttons to adjust the hour before pressing the ‘tick’ button. The exact same procedure can be done again to set the month and year.
  • Setting up the Devireg is made easy with the ‘Touch Setup Wizard’. Simply tick the button saying ‘Setup Wizard’, then use the directional buttons to select the Room and Floor according to your preference. Once again use the left/right arrows to choose which Sensor type you wish to employ, as well as output, timer, standby and lock feature.
  • Typical areas for installation: Any interior wall that is most convenient and within easy reach.  Areas to be avoided include those exposed to direct sunlight, air vents, your kitchen, hallways, windows and doors.

Does Your Home Need a Smart Thermostat?

When it comes to managing your home’s heating, making sure you’re using the right thermostat is vital for staying on top of the cold and keeping that energy bill as manageable as possible. That’s why it’s worth asking the question, does your home need an intelligent smart thermostat? What is An Intelligent or Smart Thermostat? The terms intelligent or smart (used interchangeably) thermostat describe a way of remotely controlling your home's heating system through your smartphone, tablet, computer, or voice assistant. Essentially, intelligent thermostats utilise your home’s internet to link up your boiler and even an underfloor heating system, allowing you to control and configure the heating environment in your home to best meet your needs.Intelligent thermostats aren’t just dials for your heating either, they’re much more than that. Making use of advanced algorithms, sensors, and other features, they really earn the word “smart”. Smart thermostats are perfect for setting radiators around the home to turn on at different times, maximising the efficiency of your heating system. Say you wanted your underfloor heating in the bathroom to be on first thing in the morning when those tiles are at their most bitingly cold, that would be easy to set up. When it comes to really dialing in your home’s efficiency and convenience, smart thermostats are the way to go.How Does an Intelligent Thermostat Work?Essentially, smart thermostats are a deceptively simple concept. By linking your home’s heating system to your internet connection, you’re able to access all the intricacies of setting up your home’s temperature, central heating schedule, and a bunch of other features, no matter where you and your device are.Not only this, but through algorithms, AI and machine learning, your smart thermostat can optimise efficiency, saving you money and making sure your home is toasty warm, exactly when you need it to be (and not wasting money when you don’t). It does this by working predictively to provide you with the best approach and schedule for your home and needs.Buy DEVIreg Touch ThermostatIs a Smart Thermostat Right for Your Home?Gone are the days of having to tinker and play around with the confusing settings on your boiler. You won’t be worrying whether you set the heating to come on at the right time or temperature levels anymore. With energy prices skyrocketing in the UK, it’s vital that we’re making the absolute most of all potential conveniences and improving our home’s energy efficiency. If you’re someone who’s ever been frustrated tinkering with the settings on your boiler, or if you just want maximum heating convenience whilst being “on the go”, your home needs an intelligent thermostat. Let’s face it, everyone wants to save on their heating bill this winter, so it goes without saying that if you’re wanting to cut those bills down, a smart thermostat may be the way to go.The Pros of Intelligent Thermostats  There are a lot of obvious benefits to getting a smart thermostat installed in your home, and the only major con might be the cost, which has dropped substantially in recent years. In terms of savings and convenience, the benefits really speak for themselves. That’s not even mentioning how great smart thermostats can look. You probably never thought your heating control panel could be an attractive part of your décor, right?Ease of InstallationYou wouldn’t be remiss for worrying that the installation could be lengthy or messy, given the huge benefits, however, installation of smart thermostats can be extremely quick and easy. Many top models boast full compatibility with other smart systems, making installation fast and straightforward.Complete User FriendlinessUser convenience, intuitive design and complete user-friendliness make intelligent thermostats a solid way to go when it comes to making sure that your heating system is working for you this winter and throughout the year in general. The smart thermostat is particularly useful to someone with a busy working schedule or frequently on the go, someone who doesn't have time to dabble over a thermostat when they get back.Powerful Features in a Convenient PackageIt’s not just about how simple it is to set the heating at home. You can remotely program, manage and monitor your intelligent smart thermostat from anywhere on your mobile device connected to the internet so that it can calculate the perfect schedule and use of your heating system. That’s a powerful raft of features in a simple, accessible format that anyone can use.Predictive AI-powered algorithms to boost your home’s efficiencySmart learning technology creates a heating system that adapts to your needsGeolocation, helps your system adapt to local differencesMulti-zone heating control across your home.Save Money This WinterOne of the biggest features of the right intelligent thermostat is how much money it could stand to save you throughout the year, compared to traditional heating systems. With estimates of how much you could save wavering between 8% and 30%, according to a range of sources, the real factor is how much you’re using your smart thermostat. If you treat it like a traditional control system, you won’t reap the benefits, but if you use everything it has to offer, you can expect to make big savings. Simply making sure your heating isn’t on when nobody is home can be massively cost-saving, and that’s not even looking at all the scheduling options for making your home’s heating as efficient as possible.Feeling Chilly? Tell Your Radiator to Turn OnThe ultimate in convenience, no, don’t get up. Just tell your Alexa or Google Home device to turn the heating up in the room you’re in. Through integration with voice assistants and multi-zone features, you can literally instruct your central heating to just heat the one room you’re in. Compared to turning up the temperature of the entire house, this is going to be a big energy saver, as well as a time saver.Thinking About Getting a Smart Thermostat? In terms of pricing, there is a wide range of options out there, with many options sitting around the £100 mark, but powerful alternatives are available starting at around £75. Most offerings come with great guarantees, leaving you safe in the knowledge that your heating is in good hands no matter what happens. You can spend a lot more on your smart thermostat too, as with most things, but for most UK homes, that’s not really necessary. Many UK customers found that upgrading their heating system resulted in energy bill savings, as well as a more convenient, intuitive system, with many reviews attesting.

Having a Smart Home that is also Safe: Safer Smarter Homes

These days there are so many smart things, smart devices, and smart technologies that can make our home smarter; as we have a smart home, we also need to make sure it is safe. We were recently consulting the, Safer and Smarter Home guide by Electrical Safety First and we were inspired to bring some of these details to the forefront for our customers and visitors also.Keep reading this guide to find out more about: Having a Smart Home - BenefitsHaving a Smart Home that is also Safe!As of today, May 2024, some many smart devices and sensors can be installed or used in our home, including:Smart camerasSmart door locksSmart video monitoring systemSmart shades systemSmart water controlSmart heat control devicesSmart access controlSmart weather devicesSmart lightsSmart sensorsSmart WifiSmart Solar PanelsSmart multimedia controlsSmart climate controlsSmart flood sensorsSmart alarm systemSmart garage doorIn a sense, there's a smart device for any aspect of our daily life and for every part of the home, and many modern people rush into getting this and that smart device, only to discover that, eventually, some devices don't work with one another while others are complicated to set up and maintain, and still others die suddenly. When the smart devices work, life is bliss, but when there are problems, life tends to be a mess. We need to learn to measure and manage the smart home in a proper way so that it can be not just a smart home but also a safe home. If we install the smart things as the manufacturer intends and instructs, they assist us and even improve certain aspects of our lives. However, we need to be aware of some of the dangers or hazards involved in having and using smart devices around the house and have a smart home that is also safe. Having a Smart Home - BenefitsAs we live in this post-pandemic world, we realize that we have an increasing need for electronic devices that are interconnected. Actually, the pandemic accelerated the use of electronic devices and smart devices, both for leisure and for work, and we realize how easier life can be when we have them around. There are some great benefits of having a smart home, which include:Energy Saving by Controlling, Monitoring, and Saving Energy with Smart DevicesWhen we have connected devices that help us monitor our heating, water, and energy usage, we can control it better, keep track of what we're using, and reduce costs. We can be notified when there's an excess of water or energy used, and we know for sure that the bill will be lower when we use energy-saving LED Lamps and LED light fittings. We will be aware of how much we spend on using heat pumps and the electric boiler, and we will reduce the cost when switching to smarter heating systems. Buy Intelligent Thermostats at SparksHaving a Smart Home when we Work from HomeIf there's one thing the pandemic showed us is that many of us can work from home, at least partially. We do relax and unwind at home, but at the same time, we work either part-time or full-time from home. Smart devices and smart sensors in our home, paired together with smart control systems, can make our lives simpler and our work-from-home experience much more enjoyable. We may learn how to set up our home network, TV, audio, lighting, and other smart systems around the house. ConvenienceOne of the best benefits of having a smart home that is also safe is convenience. Having voice-activated assistants and touchscreen control of the systems around the house is very convenient. And many times we can remotely control and adjust the smart devices in our home - even when we're at the office or on holiday. For example, we may want to make sure the house is warm when we get back from holiday, so we remotely adjust the heating. We can even set up individual lighting schemes based on our needs or according to our mood. SecurityWith the rise in the smart doorbells, it is so easy to install one and remotely answer the door or greet your guests. Even without opening the door, we can chat with visitors or mailmen. Furthermore, there are many security systems that can be installed around the house and in the house to monitor the premises. There are also smart locks that can be used to open the door and allow specific people to come in, based on their credentials and security access. SafetySome of the smart devices we use in our home can monitor whether we have left an appliance on or off, and we can see whether we can turn it off remotely. We can avoid potential fire hazards by using smart technology, turning the electricity or heating off remotely. For instance, some smart home sensors can detect temperature, levels of carbon dioxide, or water leaks, and they notify the homeowner. We at Sparks sell a range of smart Fire Alarms and Heat Alarms by Aico, incorporating AudioLINK+ and alsoRadioLINK+ technology. For those who are elderly or disabled, there are smart home technologies and devices that can make a great difference to their quality of life and guarantee the peace of mind of the caregivers. Automatic sensors can be installed to check if a cooker has been left ON or a bath is overflowing. The light can be automatically turned on when presence is detected and off when someone leaves the room. Voice-controlled smart home devices also help people with limited mobility by making common household appliances easy to use. A Smart Home Can Improve Well-beingHaving a smart home and interconnected smart devices can also enhance personal well-being.Many health-related devices monitor and alert you regarding different health conditions and anomalies. Many smart routines can be set up in the home to help with sleep and living patterns. There are smart air filtration systems and dehumidifiers to purify and ventilate the air. For example, at Sparks, we sell a range of dMEV ventilation systems which come on when moisture is detected, and they run slowly in the background when they are not needed. Buy iConstant dMEV FansHaving a Smart Home that is also Safe: Safer Smarter HomesWhen we consider the smart devices, sensors, and technologies that can be installed and used around the home, it's not the fire hazards that are more common but the nuisance related to installing, maintaining, interlinking, controlling, warranty, fixing, and taking care of these smart things. It is important to consider certain matters when planning to buy smart things for the house. It is important to consider that the smart home is also safe - there's a need for safer smarter homes. Here is a list of questions to consider before purchasing a new piece of technology that is smart and can improve our life at home:Will this smart device work with my other smart devices? We need to know what system we use at home, how the smart devices interconnect, and how will this new device interconnect and relate to the other devices. Some competitor technologies and manufacturers do not interoperate, so we can save ourselves the frustration of trying to make them work together by making sure this happens before we buy them. Buy Aico Smart Fire AlarmsDoes this smart device use Bluetooth or wifi? Can my wifi cover it?Some smart devices require a good wifi connection, while others connect via Bluetooth. Before purchasing any smart device, we need to consider if we have enough wifi coverage to reach that device and whether we can use Bluetooth to reach it if Bluetooth is required. Software updates: how long are they guaranteed? It is imperative to know beforehand if the smart device we purchase is guaranteed for at least 2-3 years to have software updates by the manufacturer. Regular software updates improve the smart device and patch any issues or errors. How long do we have after-sales support? Is there online support? We may think we know everything we need to know about a particular smart device, for we studied it and we know it inside out, but it's best to know before buying whether we have after-sales support, and for how long. Also, we need to know the place online where we can get support, first by registering the product and then by enquiring with them about different issues that may arise. Is this smart device the real thing?Sometimes the price of a smart device is so low that we're ready to buy it; however, we need to make sure we buy the right thing, the device made by that manufacturer, and not any counterfeit device. For example, we at Sparks sell smart devices made by Forum Lighting, Danfoss, and Aico, among others, and we sell original products made by these manufacturers. Is my personal data safe? Many times our personal data and device usage is stored in the cloud, so we need to make sure that our personal data is safe before purchasing a product. If a particular manufacturer has a track record of being lax about their security and there are data breaches, it is not recommended to purchase smart devices from them. What's the backup plan for when this smart device fails? No one wants to think about this, but it is an important point to consider. If the smart device we're about to buy will fail, what's the backup plan? Let's say we replace our doorbell with a smart one, and the smart doorbell fails; what is our backup plan? Note: all the above tips are inspired by the Electrical Safety First guide to Smart Home and Safety - guides 1 and 2. At Sparks, we sell a limited amount of smart devices, but we want to make sure all our visitors and customers are safe when purchasing and using smart devices for a smart home - even a smarter safer home.

How DEVImat Electrical Underfloor Heating Warms up Homes and Shops (showcases)

The pioneering DEVI has an illustrious history in electric underfloor heating - being the first company of its kind - established in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1942. They became the leading electrical heating manufacturer in the market, and are now considered the best within the industry. Accordingly, they have a loyal customer base that is always growing - perhaps finding the 20-year full warranty (on certain purchases such as the DEVImat) with the 'DEVIwarranty' to be the icing on the cake. So this winter,  there's only one company to turn to when the question of underfloor heating arises. DEVI can provide you with an outstanding range of DEVImats of all sizes for your convenience, plus DEVIreg thermostats that offer hassle-free heating control. The combination of these two DEVI products is a match made in heaven, as outlined in this article here. If you need more convincing, we will dazzle you with select showcases of some of DEVI's most distinguished success stories - from apartments in the UK to Middle Eastern cold stores.Case Study 1: Cambridge Marque Residential buildings When first introduced in 2015, Cambridge's Marque residential buildings were touted as representing an 'iconic addition to an old city'. At 2697 square feet, it is easily the tallest residential building in the eminent city and boasts a luxurious layout. There are plenty of life-enhancing facilities on offer, such as secure underground parking, residents-only gym, a private garden plus a 24 hour concierge service. Naturally, the next deluxe addition for the project was some wonderful underfloor bathroom heating for the Marque's residents: and DEVI were first on the list for the job. The products were all quickly installed with minimal issues and complications by the DEVI UK team.  The Marque's Head of Electric Center said of the job DEVI had implemented: DEVI managed to get a large quantity of mats on the site at short notice... DEVI has been extremely helpful and thorough in assisting me throughout the project. Our contractor... has been very pleased with the quality and ease of installing the DEVIcomfort and Thermostat. Buy Devireg Thermostats and Underfloor HeatingCase Study 2: The Energy Plus House in Denmark Solar panels powering and heating a house during the freezing cold winter months in Scandinavia, where the sun never shines? Sounds a tricky proposition. Well, the Energy+ House in Norway has gone some distance to achieving this goal, even managing to produce more heat than it receives. It does this with the help of - you guessed it - DEVImat electric underfloor heating and a ventilation system with heat recovery. The combined heating and ventilation system are controlled via a single panel and is able to run maintenance free. What's more is that the Energy+ house requires no special structures and is apparently replicable in all types of buildings. The Energy+ House massively benefits from the DEVILink system, a two way communication system that can all be easily controlled from an optimally placed colour touch screen. The system provides complete floor heat control combined with room sensors to afford occupants with the highest levels of comfort. This results in substantial energy savings due to the individually adjusted periods of temperature lowering - a key factor for achieving a healthy and comfortable climate in modern homes. Case study 3: DEVImat Underfloor Heating in a Panda Store in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia One of the Middle East's largest cold stores, a 'Panda' store in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has been outfitted with DEVI complete protection system. This was quite an undertaking, as temperatures can drop to -30 degrees Celsius across this vast expanse of retail area, and inadequate heating could lead to the loss of huge amounts of frost-exposed produce. The total size of the project is 8,000 m2 and the total installed power consumption is approximately 160kW. It was completed without a hitch and a representative of Danfoss Dubai stated, regarding the unqualified success of the undertaking, that: We are glad that DEVI was chosen as the reliable partner for the construction of the biggest Middle Eastern cold store... we strongly believe that DEVI meets all expectations and demands required by such large construction projects Buy Devimat Underfloor Heating MatsSo is DEVImat definitely the antidote for freezing floors this crispy Christmas season? The three case studies given in this article were a few among many. DEVI has consistently proven itself to be a reliable and the most sought-after electrical heating specialist on the globe. But are they are good fit for your home? The answer is quite simply, yes. We here at Sparks can offer DEVImats, DEVIcomforts and DEVIregs at extremely affordable prices, with easy installation (as demonstrated in this article here), and excellent communication between DEVI products across any type of building. A short video guide for DEVI underfloor installation:  DEVI aim their products at members of the general public above anyone else, even with the grand-scale projects exampled in this article, and should be your first port of call for underfloor heating this Christmas!

What is a Smart Thermostat and Why Now is the Right Time to Invest in One

The advent of smart technology in the 21st century has benefited us in all walks of life; from voice-controlled smartphones obeying our every order to Fitbits tracking our health levels, smart technology is revolutionising how we live. The latest trend you should be turning to is smart thermostats, for the simple reason they can save you some serious money on your electricity bills. What is a Smart Thermostat? A conventional room thermostat allows the temperature in your home to be changed manually, via a dial or control panel. Meanwhile, smart thermostat will allow for a more effective, user-friendly and accessible way to control your home's heating. Many smart thermostats utilise the 'Internet of Things' (IoT) which offers internet connectivity for remote management, programming, and monitoring. This is especially useful for a variety of features, such as the ability to notify the thermostat when the owner is on the way home so it can adjust the temperature accordingly.Buy a Smart Thermostat today Benefits of a smart thermostat The smart thermostat is particularly useful to someone who is working or frequently on the go, one who doesn't have time to dabble over a thermostat when they get back. A smart thermostat won’t save money in the short run, unless the temperature varies wildly from morning to evening, but it will pay off in the long run if the house can be heated or cooled efficiently. As your smartphone receives reports about the usage and situation of the smart thermostat, you can utilise these to better understand your own heating and cooling usage. This in turn enables you to adjust its behaviour and preferences, which could save money, while maintaining the house at a comfortable temperature. The exact amount a thermostat may save you is obviously dependent on various factors: the type of thermostat, the insulation of your property and how you take advantage of its features. However, many studies claim a smart thermostat will manage to pay for itself within a year. According to some studies, smart thermostats may save your energy bills ranging from 31-37%, which may amount up to £130 per year! A top-of-the-line Danfoss Devireg Smart thermostat will set you back a little over £100, down from its initial list pricing of over double that price, while the less expensive one is just over £50 + VAT (see the DEVIreg Touch Screen). The Devireg is an intelligent electronic timer thermostat with Wi-Fi connectivity and App control. It truly makes use of the IoT, allowing you to wirelessly control your electrical heating via your smartphone - either via an Android phone or an iPhone. For instance, on a chilly winter morning, you can wake up and even manage the temperature of your underfloor heating as you get ready for the day. And when you take a shower and it is under 5 degrees Celsius outside, it is so comfortable to step out of the shower and feel the warm floors under your feet... A smart thermostat works with all the heating elements in the house - which can be remotely controlled, and it allows you to make sure the house is warm enough when people are around, and also that the heat is not ON when no one is at home. The smart thermostat features are bound to save you money on electricity bills. For instance, it has an open window detector and an energy-saving program that includes an optimum start/end control that ensures the desired temperature is reached at the correct time, therefore reducing heating costs.
