Frequently asked questions (by customers)
Why is the maximum wattage listed as 70W per gang instead of 100W?
While the individual intelligent LEDit-B module is capable of up to 100W when installed alone, Hamilton instructions specify that plates containing 2 or more dimmers must be de-rated to a maximum of 70W per gang (handling between 1 and 10 LED lamps max per circuit) to safely manage heat dissipation within the multi-gang plate.
Can I use this dimmer with non-LED lighting loads?
Yes. The module is widely versatile and compatible with incandescent lamps, mains halogen lamps, mains dimmable CFL lamps, and dimmable low-voltage electronic transformers, alongside mains dimmable LED lamps. However, please note that tungsten filament GU10 lamps must be branded and feature a fused base.
What happens if the dimmer stops working because it overheats?
The built-in self-setting thermostat automatically triggers if the internal temperature passes 110°C to protect the components. You do not need to replace the unit; once the module cools back down to below 75°C, the dimmer automatically resets and resumes normal operation.
Who Can Install This?
In the UK, this product must only be installed by a qualified electrician or competent electrical installer in accordance with current IET Wiring Regulations and applicable building regulations.
