This is the IMO AC02C Auxiliary Contact Block – a 1 x Normally Open (N/O) for CR Series Contactors available at SparksDirect for the best price. Purchase this item with confidence at Sparks today.

The IMO AC02C is a clip-on auxiliary contact block designed to enhance the control capabilities of the IMO CR-series contactor range. Unlike the AC01C (which is normally closed), the AC02C provides one Normally Open (N/O) contact.

This means the circuit is open by default and only closes when the main contactor is energized. It is the industry-standard choice for creating "latching" circuits, where a momentary push-button start needs to keep the contactor engaged.

This unit is not designed to power heavy machinery directly; instead, it provides the "logic" for your control system. While your main contactor handles the high-amperage loads for industrial motors, large-scale heating banks, or commercial lighting arrays, the AC02C handles the signaling. It is designed to fit onto the front of DIN-rail mounted or enclosure-based contactors (specifically models CR01C through CR12C).

When used in motor control, it works alongside IMO Overload Relays (such as the OL09D series) to ensure the system can provide feedback signals to a control panel or PLC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use this to signal a "Run" light on my control panel?

A: Yes, this is one of the most common uses for the AC02C. Because the contact is Normally Open, it will only close (turning the light on) when the main contactor is active, providing visual confirmation that the machine is running.

Q: Does "1 N/O" mean I can switch a single-phase motor with this?

A: No. An auxiliary contact is for control current, not load current. While it is rated at 10A (AC1), it is not designed for the high inrush currents of motors. You must use the power poles of the main contactor to switch the motor.

Q: How many of these can I fit onto one contactor?

A: Most IMO CR-series contactors allow you to snap on one auxiliary block on the front. However, because these are thin (10.5mm), specific configurations allow for multiple contacts depending on the base contactor model used.

Who can install this?

The installation of the AC02C must be performed by a qualified electrician or a competent industrial technician. Because this component is often used in self-latching circuits and safety interlocks, a wiring error could cause a machine to restart unexpectedly or fail to stop when commanded. Knowledge of control circuit diagrams and safe isolation procedures is mandatory.

What is this for?

  • The IMO AC02C is used primarily for Control Logic and Feedback. Common applications include:
  • Latching (Self-Holding) Circuits: Used in conjunction with a "Start" push-button to keep the contactor closed after the button is released.
  • PLC Input Signaling: Providing a digital signal to a programmable logic controller to confirm that a specific load (like a pump or heater) has been successfully engaged.
  • Sequence Control: Ensuring that "Machine B" cannot start until the AC02C on "Machine A" has closed, confirming the first machine is already operational.
  • Remote Monitoring: Triggering an hour-counter or a remote telemetry unit to track how long a piece of equipment has been running.
