The IMO CR08C is a robust 3-pole industrial contactor designed for heavy-duty power switching in 400V three-phase systems. It is the upgraded version of the CR04C, offering a higher 24A (AC3) rating which allows it to control industrial motors up to 11kW (15HP). For resistive loads such as commercial heating banks or large lighting arrays, it provides a high-capacity 50A (AC1) rating.
This model is specifically fitted with a 400V/415V AC Coil, making it ideal for industrial machinery that operates without a neutral wire, pulling control power directly across two phases. Note that unlike the smaller "CR" units, this specific configuration (MC24 series) often comes without a built-in auxiliary contact to maximize space for power termination. It mounts securely to 35mm DIN rails or panels and is designed to be paired with IMO MCOR-2 series thermal overload relays for complete motor protection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use this contactor with a 230V control switch?
A: No. The coil in the CR08C is rated for 400V-415V. If you attempt to use a 230V signal, the contactor will likely "chatter" or fail to pull in entirely. If your control circuit is 230V, you would need a different model (typically the MC24-S-00230).
Q: If there are no built-in auxiliary contacts, how do I create a latching circuit?
A: You must purchase a separate add-on auxiliary contact block. The CR08C is compatible with the IMO AC01C (Normally Closed) or AC02C (Normally Open) front-mounting blocks, which simply snap onto the top of the unit.
Q: Why does this unit have a 50A rating but the wires on my 11kW motor are much smaller?
A: The 50A rating is for "Resistive" loads (AC1). For "Inductive" motor loads (AC3), the rating is lower (24A) to account for the massive surge of electricity when the motor starts. Always fuse your circuit based on the specific load type.
Who can install this?
Installation is strictly for qualified industrial electricians. Because this unit is often used in 415V phase-to-phase control circuits, the risk of high-energy arcing and severe shock is significantly higher than in standard domestic wiring. Precise torque of the terminals is essential, as the CR08C can handle up to 50A; loose connections at this current level can cause a fire in seconds.
What is this for?
The IMO CR08C is a heavy-duty switch used in high-power industrial environments:
- High-Output Motor Control: Used for 11kW motors in industrial refrigeration compressors, heavy-duty extractors, and large hydraulic presses.
- Industrial Heating: Controlling 3-phase heating elements in large-scale plastic injection molding or industrial kilns.
- No-Neutral Machinery: Ideal for factory machines where the manufacturer has designed the control circuit to run off 415V to simplify wiring.
- Phase-Sequenced Automation: Acts as a primary power stage in automated production lines where high current must be switched reliably over millions of cycles.
